Our story

We didn’t set out to create a new ecosystem. We set out to connect what was already there.

Within four hours by train from London, a powerful climate tech region is emerging. Connecting cities like Cambridge, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, this region is home to some of the most exciting climate innovations on the planet.

The Climate Tech SuperCluster began as a collaboration between Cambridge Cleantech, Oxfordshire Greentech and Liminal. Through building local communities of innovators, investors and institutions, each organisation has seen first-hand how much faster climate technologies can scale when regions work together. Not just domestically in the UK, but also through a range of European projects and collaborations.

We were inspired by Dealroom’s idea of the “New Palo Alto”. A region defined not by borders, but by connectivity – more specifically a four hour train ride from London. In this region, you’ll find a critical mass of what the climate transition needs. World-class universities, ambitious deeptech founders, active investors and some of the most forward-thinking cities in Europe.

But while the potential is there, it remains fragmented.

We created the SuperCluster to apply a climate lens to this high-potential region. Connecting what already exists, aligning it around impact, and building momentum behind the technologies that can drive real change.

Powered by partnership

The SuperCluster is shaped by the organisations and individuals who support it. From innovation agencies and corporations to research institutions and local government. Without them, none of this happens.

Ready to be part of something bigger?

The Climate Tech SuperCluster is driven by the people inside it. From breakthrough innovators to those who help build and back the ecosystem, there are many ways to be part of it.

The climate innovation ecosystem for the UK and Europe.
